In January, RISMedia named some 300 real estate professionals as 2020 Real Estate Newsmakers. Each of these individuals—separated into eight categories—was either nominated by you, the RISMedia reader, or chosen by our editors.
These people made great contributions within their own communities and the industry as a whole. They've dedicated their lives to a better real estate process. Here, we highlight five honorees who were chosen as Newsmakers in the Futurists category:
Karri Callahan, Chief Financial Officer at RE/MAX Holdings Inc.
As chief financial officer of RE/MAX Holdings Inc, Karri Callahan oversees finance, investor relations, legal, risk management and other functions at RE/MAX Holdings and its affiliated companies. She considers her role and contributions during RE/MAX's acquisition of booj, a web design and technology company, to be one of her greatest professional accomplishments.
"It's an exciting time for RE/MAX as we are executing on multiple initiatives that we believe will create efficiencies and competitive advantages for our network," says Callahan.
AJ Canaria, Creative Brand Ambassador at Inside Real Estate
With professionalism and an eye for what makes the perfect picture, AJ Canaria is the creative director and executive brand ambassador at Inside Real Estate. He's perhaps most recognized for photographing a host of real estate events across the U.S. with groups like Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, RISMedia and Tom Ferry.
"I am one of real estate's storytellers and connectors. One of my storytelling mediums is photography," says Canaria.
Howard "Hoby" Hanna IV, President at Howard Hanna Real Estate Services
As president of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, Howard W. "Hoby" Hanna IV manages the business and operational efforts. His leadership has also been instrumental in Howard Hanna's recent growth and expansion, including a partnership with the Allen Tate Company, which added 40 offices across North and South Carolina.
"I’m incredibly excited about the future of the real estate industry," says Hanna.
Vy Luu, General Manager at Real Estate Webmasters
In 2019, Vy Luu became Real Estate Webmasters' general manager, and she is excited about the company's recent multimillion-dollar investment in a new data solution that has the potential to revolutionize the real estate industry globally.
"We're bringing an international, multilingual MLS system to the world based on RESO standards that's going to change the way real estate is done," says Luu.
Ryan Schneider, President & CEO at Realogy Holdings Corp.
Ryan Schneider is president and CEO of Realogy Holdings Corp., one of the largest full-service residential real estate services companies in the U.S. Under his management, Realogy recently leveraged the strength of it's size, scale and brands in new ways by launching a spate of new products and partnerships designed to help the company win more listings, drive agent productivity, and grow and retain its agent base.
"We believe the things we're doing on the product side and the technology side, combined with our strength as a company financially, will create a winning formula as the industry goes through consolidation and growth," says Schneider.
