Elon Musk may have just surpassed Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos as the richest person in the world (at time of press), but with a net worth of $191.4 billion and owning the properties he does, he’s not bound to lose any sleep over the news. Bezos, like other billionaires, has a complex and wide-ranging real estate portfolio that includes everything from Beverly Hills mansions to the Corn Ranch near Van Horn, Texas.

It was also announced last year that Bezos cracked the top 25 list of people that own the most land in the U.S., with 420,000 acres. Here’s an overview of Jeff Bezos’ real estate portfolio:

Investments: Estimated in the Billions
The vast majority of the 420,000 acres that Bezos owns is in West Texas. In 2004, the billionaire purchased the 400,000 acre Corn Ranch near Van Horn, Texas. Bezos spent his childhood summers at his grandparents’ Texas ranch, and has stated that he wanted his kids to experience what it's like to spend summers on a ranch.
His land in West Texas also serves as the headquarters for his space exploration company, Blue Origin. To get a sense of how expansive 400,000 acres is, it is nearly the size of New York City. Additionally, various outlets reported last December that Bezos is now ranked 25th on the list of people who own the most land in the U.S.

Jack Warner Estate in Beverly Hills, California: $165 Million
Bezos and his girlfriend Lauren Sánchez have made the Jack Warner Estate in Beverly Hills their main residence. At its $165 million purchase price, it is by far the most expensive home they own; Bezos purchased the home from music mogul David Geffen in February 2020.
Located in the prestigious Benedict Canyon area of Beverly Hills, the 13,600 square-foot home was built in the 1930s and sits on nine acres of land. The home also includes lush gardens, large terraces, two guesthouses, a tennis court, a pool and a nine-hole golf course.

Three Units at 212 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan: $80 Million
In 2018, Bezos purchased the penthouse and the two units directly below it at 212 Fifth Avenue in New York City for a cool $80 million. Located near Madison Square Park, the penthouse alone occupies three-floors of the building and the three units combined equal more than 17,000 square feet with 12 bedrooms.
At the time of the sale, it was the most expensive residential real estate deal ever in New York City south of 42nd street. The building was built in 1912 and was originally a commercial property used for manufacturing. In 2015, it was converted into luxury condos with a shared gym and game room.

Medina, Washington Property and Adjacent Mansion: $60 Million
Bezos’ first major real estate purchase came in 1998, two years after Amazon went public. He and his then-wife MacKenzie purchased a 5.3 acre property in Medina, Washington with two houses on it for $10 million. The homes are located on the shore of Lake Washington, in the same high-end neighborhood that Bill Gates built his Xanadu 2.0 home.
One home on the property is 20,600 square foot with five bedrooms and four bathrooms. And the other home is a more modest 8,300-square foot house. The upscale town is a suburb of Seattle, where Bezos' Amazon is headquartered. He chose the location because Microsoft is headquartered there, as well, and Bezos hoped to pull from the talent pool in the area.

Two Additional Beverly Hills Estates: $37.4 Million
Thirteen years before purchasing the Jack Warner Estate, Bezos purchased another Beverly Hills mansion from David Geffen; this one worth $24.5 million. Sitting on over two acres of landscaped property, the 11,891 square foot California Spanish-style mansion includes a swimming pool and a tennis court.
In the summer of 2018, Bezos purchased a $12.9 million property located directly behind this mansion. Built in 1956, the 4,586 square foot home sits on a half-acre lot and it was never publicly listed for sale, according to the Los Angeles Times. Together with his California Spanish-style mansion, Bezos was able to create a 2.5 acre compound.

Washington D.C. Mansion and Adjacent Home: $28 Million
In 2016, Jeff Bezos bought a 27,000 square foot mansion at 2320-2330 S Street NW in Washington D.C. The home was originally built in 1914 and came with a $23 million price tag. The 10 bedroom, eight bathroom home is located in the upscale Kalorama neighborhood where neighbors include former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. The mansion is the former site of the Textile Museum.
Also, in January 2020, Bezos purchased the mansion directly across the street from this massive compound for $4,995,000. The 4,785 square foot four-level home has an elevator, staff or guest quarters, laundry room, powder room and a 700 bottle wine cellar located on the first floor. Additionally, there's a roof deck with incredible views of Washington D.C.

Four Units at 25 Central Park West in Manhattan: $13 Million
Bezos also owns three condos at 25 Central Park West on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He purchased the property from music mogul Tommy Mottola in 1999 for $7.65 million. In 2012, Bezos purchased another condo in the building for $5.3 million.
The art deco building that the four condos are located in was built in 1931 and is 32 stories tall. Located adjacent to Central Park, the building has elevator attendants, a concierge, as well as three entrances. When Bezos bought the first three condos, he and MacKenzie had intended to use the condos as a pied-a-terre for themselves and his parents, Miguel and Jacklyn Bezos.
