In January, RISMedia named some 300 real estate professionals as 2020 Real Estate Newsmakers. Each of these individuals—separated into eight categories—was either nominated by you, the RISMedia reader, or chosen by our editors.
These people made great contributions within their own communities and the industry as a whole. They've dedicated their lives to a better real estate process. Here, we highlight five honorees who were chosen as Newsmakers in the Luminaries category:
Diane Ramirez, Chairman & CEO at Halstead Real Estate
In 1984, Diane Ramirez and Clark Halstead co-founded Halstead Real Estate with the intention of creating a high-end firm leveraging advanced technology and located within the communities it served. Under her leadership as chairman and CEO, Halstead has grown to more than 1,400 agents in three dozen offices across the tri-state area. The firm further expanded after it was purchased by Terra Holdings in 2001.
"In my new position [as chairman of the board, LeadingRE], I look forward to continued collaboration to advance the real estate industry and strengthen the deep international relationships offered through the network," says Ramirez.
Pat Riley, President & CEO at Allen Tate Companies
As president and CEO, Pat Riley has overseen Allen Tate Companies' acquisitions of more than 30 family-owned real estate companies, which has helped it become the No. 1 firm in the Carolinas in terms of closed transaction sides. Riley expanded the company's offerings to include relocation, mortgage, insurance, builder and master title services.
"Remaining fiercely independent is so personally important to me," says Riley. "To keep that dream in place, I tell the world there is an alternative to capital markets."
Kate Rossi, Regional EVP of Eastern Region at Coldwell Banker NRT
Kate Rossi, a seasoned real estate leader, is the regional EVP of Coldwell Banker NRT's Eastern region, covering the sales operations of New England, Connecticut, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, the Carolinas, Florida and Texas. Last year, she spearheaded the introduction of Listing Concierge, a comprehensive marketing program, across the companies and agents she oversees.
"I believe that real estate agents are trusted advisors in the real estate transaction, and it is essential to keep them and their needs at the forefront of our business," says Rossi.
Ron Shuffield, President & CEO at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty
In 2019, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices added EWM Realty International to its network. Founded in 1964, the company is a key player in the South Florida luxury real estate market. Since 2003, EWM Realty has been a subsidiary of HomeServices of America.
"As a proud member of the HomeServices of America family, we are excited to join the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices network," says Shuffield.
Vinnie Tracey, President at Realty ONE Group Affiliates
As president of Realty ONE Group Affiliates, Vinnie Tracey continues to create new and successful opportunities for franchisees and real estate professionals around the world. He also plays an integral role in opening new offices for the growing California-based franchisor, including the first two international offices in Canada in 2019. One office is located in Leduc, Alberta, while the second is located in Edmonton, Alberta.
"It's not enough to just do it better than others," says Tracey. "You have to care about the people, their families and their overall success. You'll build deep, meaningful relationships and, in the end, provide them with the best experience possible. That's what we do."
