For the nation's Power Brokers, there are clear indicators of an inflection point in real estate, according to RISMedia's 31st Annual Power Broker Report, released yesterday:

2018 was a monumental year. Collectively, the Top 1,000 Power Brokers earned $1,424,776,652,825 in sales volume and garnered 3,881,412 transactions—this despite dogged inventory issues, a challenge for 49 percent of Power Brokers, and emerging headwinds, including brewing economic uncertainty, now one of the biggest challenges (25 percent); disruptors (13 percent); and increasing interest rates (8 percent). The challenges are fueling a "cautiously optimistic" perception, held by 59 percent of Power Brokers this year, a hike from 52 percent in 2018.

Still, with more than $100 billion in dollar volume over 2017, Power Brokers are flouting the odds. NRT again captured the No. 1 ranking for sales volume, at $176,431,375,000, and for the first time, HomeServices of America landed at No. 1 for transactions, closing 346,629 last year. The brand has completed several high-profile purchases in recent years, including the acquisitions of Ebby Halliday REALTORS® and The Long & Foster Companies.
