Which cities are homeowners moving to in Q3? According to new ATTOM Data Solutions research, the majority of homeowners are making moves to Chicago, Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
ATTOM Data Solutions' recently released Q2 2018 Pre-Mover Housing Index—based on a study of the highest pre-mover index in the second quarter of 2018—found that Chicago, Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta and Washington, D.C., won out from 36 metropolitan statistical areas with at least 500,000 single-family homes and condos.
Also, according to that data, among 131 metro areas with at least 100,000 single-family homes and condos, cities showing the highest pre-mover index in Q2 2018 were Wilmington, N.C. (206); Colorado Springs, Colo. (178); and Manchester-Nashua, N.H. (172); followed by Chicago (168) and Washington, D.C. (166).
Which metros are seeing the lowest mover numbers? According to ATTOM, of the 36 metros with at least 500,000 single-family homes and condos, those with the lowest pre-mover index were Cleveland, Boston and Pittsburgh.
And what about states? ATTOM points to North Dakota, Illinois and Nevada for the highest pre-mover indexes, with New Jersey, Florida, Delaware, Maryland and Utah following close behind.
