Last month, RISMedia honored some 300 real estate professionals as RISMedia's 2020 Real Estate Newsmakers. Each of these individuals—separated into eight categories—was either nominated by you, the RISMedia reader, or chosen by our editors.
These people made newsworthy contributions within their own communities or the industry as a whole. They have dedicated their lives to a better real estate process. Here, we highlight five honorees who were chosen as Newsmakers in the Achievers category:
John Berkowitz, Co-Founder & CEO at OJO Labs
OJO Labs is a tech company on a mission to empower consumer decision-making through its conversational artificial intelligence platform, OJO. Under John Berkowitz's guidance as co-founder and CEO, OJO Labs kicked off 2019 by closing a $45 million Series C investment round, bringing its total funding to $71 million.
"Building meaningful business platforms that defy the status quo has long been my M.O.," says Berkowitz.
Ryan Coon, Co-Founder & CEO at Avail
Ryan Coon is co-founder and CEO of Avail, an online platform for DIY landlords and their tenants. The Chicago-based company offers an end-to-end solution that helps independent landlords scale from beginner to professional with tools, support and education to make renting easy.
"Our tremendous growth is a testament to our dedication to providing a comprehensive solution that can help the 8-plus million independent landlords across the nation," says Coon.
Dana Green, CEO at Dana Green Team
The Dana Green Team is a dedicated group of REALTORS®, marketing and operations professionals and administrative support members in Lafayette, Calif. As CEO, Green has been the top local REALTOR® for 10 straight years. In 2019, the Dana Green Team focused and exceeded its goals in business process refinement and implementation.
"What I created was a business that brought specialists together–doing what they do best," says Green.
Tim Milam, President at Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage
Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage's motto is "Do Something Nice for Someone Every Week," which is why it's no surprise that its employees stepped in to help coworkers and other community members after their homes were damaged by a hurricane. Under Tim Milam's guidance, the team has built six Habitat for Humanity homes.
In 2012, Sea Coast Realty merged with Coldwell Banker Advantage. The companies have a total of over 800 sales associates and 30 sales offices in eastern North Carolina.
